South African Makriel (Silver Catfish) Pictures & Photographs
The Makriel is known as many names in South Africa... The more commonly names for this fish include the Silver Catfish, The Butter Barbel and of course the Makriel. The Makriel is a very interesting freshwater fish specie and can be found in large dams, rivers and slow moving streams in South Africa. When handling the Makriel one must be very careful as to not get spiked, if you do put the wound in boiling water for 5 minutes. Please see images of the Makriel below...
