The Red Roman is a very popular angling and eating fish species in South Africa, especially in the Western Cape Province. The Red Roman is often just referred to as the Roman, or in Afrikaans, Rooi Roman. The Red Roman averages around the 1 kilogram mark but specimens up to 5 kilograms do occur.
